Step 1: Create the cohort

You will eventually make a cohort for each "graduating glass" in each particular program. For example, you might have an EMT – Fall 2023 cohort for EMT students that will complete their program by fall 2023.

If you are joining an organization that is already active and set up, you do not need to set up cohorts.

  1. From the Dashboard, click the Create the first cohort card. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > Cohorts.

  2. Set up the cohort details.

    • In the Certification area, select the certification level.

    • Set the Start Date and Graduation Date for the cohort.

    • Set an Alias for the cohort.

    • Set Eval Requirements. Most organizations will prefer to set requirements for the entire cohort.

  3. Click Save. The new cohort appears.

Step 2: Set skill evaluation requirements

Now that you've created a cohort, you're ready to add skill evaluation requirements for students in the cohort.

A skill in EMCE refers to a particular psychomotor skill on which a student is evaluated. Skill evaluation requirements are divided into , , and categories.

Don't forget to review the skills on the Prerequisite, Formative, and Summative tabs.

To set skill evaluation requirements for the cohort, click Skills under Eval Requirements. The Skill Requirements page appears.

Change the number of evals needed for a skill requirement

You can increase or decrease the number of of peer and instructor evals needed for a particular skill by:

  • Pressing the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons in each column.

  • Clicking the field and entering a different number.

When you're finished, click Save All in the bottom-right corner.

Set a required success rate for an instructor skill requirement eval

By default, no success rate is required for instructor evaluations. However, you may optionally set the number off successful attempts for a given number of tries (success percentage).

When you're finished, click Save All in the bottom-right corner.
