Understanding clock-out status
When a student has clocked in, the attendance record shows Clocked In until a clock-out is expected. If the program enables late clock-out classification and sets a grace period, this status continues through the end of that grace period. Otherwise, a clock-out is expected at event end.
Missing Clock-Out means the clock-out is now overdue and has not been recorded. After the student clocks out, the warning is replaced by the recorded time and its departure classification. Late Departure appears when late classification is enabled and that time is after the grace period. A record with both punches is complete even if its departure was late.
Where these labels appear
Section titled “Where these labels appear”Attendance cards, the Attendance Report, and Excel/PDF exports use the same clock-out rules. They use the student’s organization/program policy. Changing that policy can change labels on earlier attendance records; it does not change the saved punch times or actual attended hours. For example, adding a 15-minute grace period can make a departure 10 minutes after event end display as on time.
Configuring the grace period
Section titled “Configuring the grace period”In the Scheduling tab of your organization settings, go to Attendance Rules → Clock Out & Departure:
- Classify Late Clock Outs turns late-departure classification on or off.
- Late-departure grace after end sets how long after event end a clock-out still counts as on time, and how long a clocked-in student shows Clocked In before the record is flagged Missing Clock-Out.
Program settings inherit from organization settings when no override is set. Late clock-out classification is off by default. A saved grace period has no effect while classification is disabled.
